LINDA "La Flamenca" GALLEGOS

Linda "la Flamenca" Gallegos one of the region's premiere flamenco dancers with over 20 years of experience and a passion for the art form that so depicts our Spanish heritage. She is a performer, choreographer and director of her dance company, Linda Gallegos Flamenco. Linda received her training in traditional and contemporary flamenco and Spanish classical dance from noted flamenco artists from Spain such as Farruquito, Jose Maya, La Moneta, Concha Jareno and Manuel Linan. She was awarded a scholarship to study flamenco from Maria Benitez of Maria Teatro Flamenco in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Linda has studied flamenco in Spain has immersed herself in refined art form of the great flamencos. Her repertoire includes modern flamenco and regional gypsy dance forms as well as percussive footwork and castañuelas. She is a master flamenco through her knowledge of the different palos (flamenco music styles), footwork, artwork, toque (playing of the flamenco guitar), cante (singing) and more. Her extensive background in flamenco allows her to produce authentic yet contemporary solo performances and ensembles.

For many years, she has performed flamenco and Spanish dance with professional companies, including being a soloist and a featured artist. Linda gives workshops and also teaches beginning to advanced flamenco classes at her studio, Studio Casa de Flamenco.

Linda's dancing has also been captured on canvas by noted El Paso artists such as Hal Marcus and Willibald de Cabrera.

Linda Gallegos Flamenco soloist dancer Jessica Rae was born in El Paso, Texas in 1987. She was born with dance shoes on her feet and rhythm in her soul. She was dancing ballet folklorico on stage at the age of two. She has mastered many forms of dance including flamenco, hip-hop, salsa, rueda de casino, bachata, ballet, folklorico, jazz, and lyrical.

She has studied with dance professionals in Spain, NYC, and other parts of the globe. Some of her dance teachers throughout her continuous dance career are the following: Israel Galven (flamenco), Rocio Molina (flamenco), "El Junco" (flamenco), Ian Eastwood (hip hop), Robert Jaquez (choreographed for NSYNC), Monica Flores (the purple Fanta girl), Andree Harper (ballet), Ingeborg Heuser (ballet), New York City Rockette professionals (kick line), Joel Dominguez (salsa), Christopher Rogicki (Rueda de casino) and many others. 

She is currently a soloist in Linda Gallegos Flamenco, the dance director at Chapin High School, participates in the annual Flamenco Festival in Albuquerque, is a member of Infinium Salsa Dance Team, was a member of the UTEP Golddiggers, a member the the Yambere Salsa Dance Team, and part of UTEP Ballet.

Jessica is extremely versatile and knowledgeable in many areas of dance to include teaching, performing and still being a student herself.
